Election reform advocates say millions of votes were lost in the recent federal election because the voting system is unfair. Our electoral system is dysfunctional. When a 850,000 votes elects 27 Conservatives MPs in Alberta and a million votes across Canada doesn't elect a single Green the system needs to be changed. 58% of Canadians believe we should have at least one Green in the House of Commons. The NDP won 1,000,000 votes more than the Bloc but has 13 fewer seats. And it's not just the Greens or NDP that are penalized by this system the biggest disandvantaged are the quarter million Conservative voters in Toronto who didn't elect a single MP and the quarter million Conservative voters in Montreal who didn't elect a single MP -- so the two largest cities in Canada go completely unrepresented in the Government.

I BELIEVE THE REAL REASON WAS TO RESCUE THE AUTO INDUSTRY WHICH IS IN DIRE STRAITS. . .BY USING TAXPAYERS MONEY TO SUPPORT BAD LOANS ON REAL ESTATE MORTGAGES,THE GOV'T AUTOMATICALLY BAILS OUT THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS . . . . . . IN NEW CAR LOANS . . . . WHICH IN MOST CASES ARE OBTAINED THROUGH THE EQUITY IN REAL ESTATE..BY DOING THIS THE GOVT'T IS SADLY MIS INFORMED BY THEIR ADVISERS. . . . . .THEY ARE ACTUALLY PROPPING UP A FAILED OBSOLETE INDUSTRY . . .WHICH WILL STILL CONTINUE TO FAIL.

Bering Sea, United States — The world’s largest food fishery is on the verge of collapse. Pollock, used to make McDonald’s fish sandwiches, frozen fish sticks, fish and chips, and imitation crabmeat, have had a population decrease of 50 percent since last year. The dwindling fish populations are largely due to the enormous amounts of fish being removed from Alaska’s Bering Sea. Factory trawlers take over a million tonnes of pollock out of the ocean each year. STRATEGIC VOTING IS FOR SUCKERS Every election some party tries to steal your vote with a "strategic vote" scam. They will prey on your fears and anxieties by proclaiming that fabricated disaster scenario "A" can ONLY be avoided by casting a vote for party "B". Typically, the perpetrators of this scam have a long established history of corruption, inaction and deception and are seeking yet another chance to let you down. Smart and informed voters refuse to relinquish their vote to this simplistic ruse. Instead, they vote according to their convictions; they vote with heart and they walk home feeling good about their choice. Adept voters know that voting for a party they distrust to get rid of a party they dislike is not smart strategy; they know that genuine change cannot happen by supporting the same old entrenched and corrupt parties.

DETROIT -- U.S. auto sales reached a 15-year low with a double-digit decline in September as tightening credit and a financial system in crisis appeared to overwhelm any optimism about moderating gas prices. Thousands of new cars hit Beijing's streets every day [GALLO/GETTY] Authorities in Beijing have reinstated some of the traffic rules that were used during the Olympic games to clean up the city's air pollution and ease the Chinese capital's chronic road congestion. Starting from Wednesday, officials said 30 per cent of government vehicles would be taken off Beijing's streets. Later this month, all cars will be banned from roads one weekday per week, depending on the final number on their registration plates. Government vehicles are said to account for about 10 per cent of the city's more than three million cars and vans. Tough restrictions on car usage during the August Olympics helped dramatically improve Beijing's air quality, taking pollution levels down to their lowest level in 10 years. The measures had limited private motorists to driving on alternate days, removing more than a million of the city's 3.3 million vehicles from the streets each day. . . N
