221 % INCREASE IN POLLUTION





Malaysia's carbon emission growth rate is the highest among the world's top polluters, the United Nations says.

The world body urged the government to control climate-changing gases more vigorously, saying its carbon emissions had increased 221 per cent since 1990.

The South East Asian nation is now ranked the 26th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, said Richard Leete, the regional representative for the United Nations Development Programme. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
