2 CYCLISTS DEAD

Ok...let's stop all the BS...the fact is that 4 cyclists were hit from behind by a car in broad daylight on a flat stretch of double lane highway. The DRIVER of the car is responsible for the safe operation and control of the car and obviously this did not happen. Why, we may never know but too often cyclists and pedestrians are killed by inattentive motorists who then get more sympathy from society and the courts than the victims and the victims families receive. Don't you think it's time the penalties for these kind of tragedies should be stiffer sentences for the DRIVERS and not stupid comments about how bicycles should not be allowed on roads in the first place? Maybe if the fines/sentences and social outrage about drivers killing innocent people were more severe, more drivers would take the responsibilty for the safe operation of their vehicle more seriously and less people would die needlessly. . . . . . . DCist music editor Amanda Mattos reports that a letter signed by some 250 scholars, from Ken Burns to David McCullough, puts Wal-Mart on notice: "The Wilderness is an indelible part of our history, its very ground hallowed by the American blood spilled there, and it cannot be moved."
