China welcomes car-free week

An array of activities was held in 108 cities including Shenzhen to mark the car-free week initiated by the Ministry of Construction, which began Sunday and ends Sept. 22. The week is designed to increase public awareness about energy saving and environmental protection. Urban residents are urged to take public transport, ride bicycles or walk instead of driving during the week.
